Enlivening the new admin building
Stadtwerke Erding
As a municipal company of the City of Erding, the utilities provide their customers with a reliable supply of water, electricity and gas – and do many other things for the good of the region.
The utilities wanted the new administration building to reflect their commitment to the region so they opted for a light-infused, open design with generously proportioned glass fronts on the ground floor of the building. The special impact of these glass facades is enhanced by the media panels set back into the building, which radiate well into the public space and have a particularly stunning effect in the evening. The installation, which we planned, designed and integrated as part of the passive-energy concept of the building, features a changing array of informative and entertaining displays on the subject of water, electricity, gas and regional events. Each theme has its own colour code, which bathes the entire floor in that particular tone from inside out. From the film clips and animations, passers-by and visitors to the building can learn interesting facts about their own consumption habits, the power grid, the pricing policy of the utilities and of course the latest events and happenings in the city. Special displays to mark special occasions are also developed by us from time to time – like the animated night watchman developed to mark the 125th anniversary of the city’s power supply. He moves from monitor to monitor lighting up the street lanterns until they are all replaced by electric lighting.
