Schmuckerlebniswelt “World of Jewellery”
Pforzheim
For almost two and a half centuries, the gold town of Pforzheim has been the centre of the German jewellery and clock making industry. This is where the “Jewellery Worlds” was opened on 17 June 2005 – a new realm of experience celebrating every aspect of our fascination with precious jewels and timekeepers. From the very beginning, the main attraction...
... for the public was the “World of Jewellery”, for which Die Werft was responsible. We designed and installed the interactive exhibition across 1,000 m2 of display space, with the idea of taking visitors on a fascinating journey into the world of jewellery. For instance, visitors are able to watch precious metals being created by the power of a supernova, hear myths and fairytales about the fascination of gold and take a virtual elevator into the world of precious stones. Other highlights include a visit to the ocean floor, deep into the Black Forest and the interior of a complex clockworks. The tour concludes with a capativating film sequence on the creation of contemporary jewellery.
The aim of this exhibition was to create a diverse range of experiences, rather than provide detailed factual information, so that visitors learn about the subject in an entertaining and absorbing way. This was achieved by the interlacing of architecture and multimedia to create artificial worlds that appeal to all the senses.
