Festo AG Collection
Esslingen
Festo AG is one of the world’s most well-known and successful companies in the field of automation technology. What many people do not realise is that the company also has an historic library, containing valuable first editions and rare collectors’ items on the history of technology. Festo AG turned to Die Werft to come up with a suitable home for its outstanding collection ...
... of books. Its main priorities were to find a suitable form of presentation for such valuable works and to improve the conservatory conditions under which they are stored.
What emerged was an unusual and innovative library that provides an ideal setting for the precious works and, thanks to an integral lighting and air conditioning concept, a safe storage haven. Clear lines and high-quality materials are the hallmarks of the design. A continuous band of light strikes the best possible balance between essential light protection for the exhibits and a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. The real highlight of the presentation is a digital book that allows intuitive access to over 3,000 pages of the collection. A Festo monitor powered by electrical linear impulses acts like a scanner in traversing the exhibits and providing virtual insights into these fascinating works on the history of technology.
